Study and maintenance of rail network infrastructure in Australia using LiDAR data.

LIDAR project for rail network maintenance in Australia

Table of Contents

One more year, DIELMO3D is in charge of carrying out the maintenance of railway lines from LiDAR data in Australia. The objective is to be able to detect risk areas (detection of dangerous vegetation, falling trees and generation of reports for sensitive areas) in order to plan future actions on the network.

Dielmo will be in charge of carrying out an exhaustive study of a specific risk area. Once the risk parameters and customer needs are known, we optimize and adapt the methodology and work to obtain the desired result.

With this type of complete solutions from A to Z and with high precision, any corridor or infrastructure can be analyzed in detail and with centimeter precision. The client, on the other hand, will have a quality base product with which to know the real situation of its infrastructure and to be able to estimate future maintenance actions in the short and medium term.

Main products obtained for this project:

  • High detail LiDAR classification (buildings, soil, vegetation, roads, railroads, etc.)
  • Study of vegetation risk distances with respect to the network and classification in different levels of dangerous vegetation.
  • ONLINE customized report creation for each detected risk zone.
  • Tree fall risk study.
  • Study of ground clearances.
  • Report of safety distances of cables to the ground and other elements.

Looking to the future: Development of customized geo-portals and reports with online access to LiDAR, imagery and GIS data.

In addition to the technical work done with LiDAR data and images, DIELMO3D presents the results in PDF format, with the novelty that these documents or reports have online access to the actual data and results obtained. In this way, with a simple Internet connection, the client can access to any risk zone and visualize the original data in 3D online or measure distances, since the results of these years are in the same platform, the client can access to the data of the desired year and make comparisons to study the evolution in the short and medium term.
