A Digital Terrain Model (DTM) is a simplified topographic representation of the terrain in an accessible format for computers. Elevations form a rippled three-dimensional surface, where 2 dimensions represent an octagonal plain space (X and Y axis) and the third one measures the "height (Z axis).
